Founding Documents

Baku Declaration for the Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue (2008)

Adopted at the Conference of Ministers responsible for Culture of the Council of Europe, held in Baku on December 2–3, 2008, this Declaration marks the formal starting point of the Baku Process. It affirms cultural diversity as a shared heritage of humanity and establishes sustained intercultural dialogue as a necessary condition for international peace, security, and long-term development.

Forum Declarations & Outcome Documents

Adopted at the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, held in Baku from May 1–3, 2024, under the theme "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interconnectivity." The Declaration was officially circulated as a document of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (A/78/884), reflecting the platform's established standing within the UN system.

UN & Institutional Recognition Documents

The Baku Process has received formal recognition from a range of United Nations bodies and international institutions. The documents in this section represent that record: from General Assembly resolutions and Secretary-General reports to UNESCO Executive Board decisions. Collectively they reflect the standing the Baku Process has established within the multilateral system over more than fifteen years.

  • Promotion of Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, Understanding and Cooperation for Peace

    United Nations General Assembly — Resolution A/RES/72/136, 2017

    Unanimously recognized the Baku Process as a key global mechanism for fostering intercultural dialogue and called upon all member states to actively engage with it.

    Expressed formal institutional support for the Baku Process and encouraged member states and international organizations to continue supporting it.
