Overview

A global online hub for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and engagement on intercultural dialogue — developed by UNESCO with the support of the Government of Azerbaijan.

What is the Platform

The UNESCO e-Platform on Intercultural Dialogue is an interactive digital resource developed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to promote good practices, facilitate knowledge exchange, and strengthen collaboration among the diverse range of individuals and institutions working in the field of intercultural dialogue worldwide.

The platform serves as a global hub where policymakers, civil society organizations, academics, cultural practitioners, youth leaders, and media professionals can access resources, share experiences, and connect with others committed to building more inclusive and peaceful societies. It is open to all UNESCO member states and operates as a continuously evolving space for learning and engagement.

The platform was formally presented at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on October 18, 2022, in an event organized jointly by UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO.

Azerbaijan's Contribution

Azerbaijan's Contribution

The UNESCO e-Platform on Intercultural Dialogue was developed with the financial support of the Government of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's contribution reflects its broader commitment to advancing intercultural dialogue at the international level — a commitment expressed institutionally through the Baku Process and the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, which the platform is directly linked to. The platform stands as one of several collaborative initiatives through which Azerbaijan and UNESCO have deepened their partnership in the field of culture and dialogue.

What You Will Find on the Platform

The platform brings together a wide range of resources and engagement opportunities organized around the core themes of intercultural dialogue. Visitors can explore documented good practices from organizations and individuals around the world, access publications, research, and training materials, and engage with multimedia content including the Intercultural Dialogue Talks — a series showcasing personal stories of how cross-cultural understanding is helping societies address shared challenges.

Thematic areas covered by the platform include cultural diversity and inclusion, inequality and discrimination, artificial intelligence and dialogue, gender equality and youth empowerment, religious tolerance and interfaith understanding, migration and social cohesion, and the inclusion of marginalized communities. A concepts glossary provides accessible definitions of the key terms and frameworks that underpin the field of intercultural dialogue.

The platform also functions as a networking space, connecting practitioners, researchers, and advocates from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal of promoting understanding and cooperation across cultures.
