The speaker of the panel was Vugar Zifaroglu, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council, and Honored Journalist.
During the session, the speaker extensively addressed the new characteristics of intercultural communication in the digital information environment, the acceleration of information flow through social networks and online platforms, and the accompanying increase in the risks of spreading disinformation. It was noted that the rapid dissemination of false and manipulative information in the digital environment can weaken trust between societies, foster the formation of stereotypes, and negatively impact the climate of mutual understanding.
During the speech, it was emphasized that enhancing media literacy, developing critical thinking skills, and properly selecting information sources are priority areas, particularly for the youth. It was stated that the formation of a healthy information environment is of vital importance for the preservation and development of intercultural dialogue.
The session, moderated by Rufiz Gulizada, Deputy Chairman of the "Bir Könüllü" Public Union, continued in an interactive format. The participants' questions were answered, and a broad exchange of views took place on the topic. Within the framework of the session, it was highlighted that intercultural communication in the digital age is directly linked to safe and responsible information behavior.
